Playing out of tune
notes fill the air
with magic that can’t be heard.

The leading contender
on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour,
sings one song to me
a different song to you.
Both are polkas.

                          Champagne
bubbles explode, killing
people who ain’t
                          swayed
by the music.
