The Dream

He had whispered
Desire is cruel,

As he danced slowly
Among soft flowers
And tangled thorn,

And I was torn
Away from everything
I ever wanted to love…

Pretending to be holy,
More likely though
Some shattered saint,

As the sun is faint and
Dying in the sky,
Another night fallen,

Where I tear at the velvet
Petals, fragile as my heart
My soul crumpling,

As he touches me
Where I am bleeding,
Desperately needing

Because he had whispered,
Desire is cruel.
