Midnight wakes beneath a mystic moon
as ominous mists waltz dewy down
the nocturnal dance of mothwings beating
soft staccatos and whispered wind
the spirit of a shape transforming
like a ghost of velvet shadows
through a lattice silently creeping
into a window open to the night
steals between the gauzy drapes
to find the sleeper
lost in slumber
dreaming, dreaming, dreaming.

She watches as his soul lies hid
slack-jawed and lashes fluttering
lost in the nebulous expanse of dreams
the rise and fall of his shallow breathing
she sighs sweet syllables in his ear
from bloody lips smiling deeply
whispers caress his naked skin
moonpale gooseflesh shivering
his mouth opens to her poisoned kiss
his breath captured as he is waking
eyes open wide to the terrible sight
dreams to night terrors transforming
she drinks his spirit red like wine
as his voice is
screaming, screaming, screaming.
