The Flower I am

Just a flower I am
Growing between the cracks

Of humanity

Full of life and vibrant

Absorbing the sun, the rain...
Weathering the wind and the storms

Brought upon me

People step over me and on me...

They look at me

Think I am pretty

They pick me
And take me home

Try to love me

Feed me and water me

And yet I die...

So...better to have left me alone?

To weather life’s elements?

And never know love?

Or better to know of love

And feel the pain of dying

In the youth of my growth...

Why nature says there is

Such a choice...

Why people cannot love

Without possession...

Must I be put upon display?

In a jar? To gaze at?

Am I not alive?

Can you take me home

And love me?

And keep me alive...

Can you not kill me?

Can you?

Can you...

Love me alive and

Make me safe?

Can I be yours?

Your flower?

Can I still feel the sunshine

And your love?

Can I stretch to the sky

And grow and be me?

Let me live...

Let me love you...

Let me...

Let me...
