Red lacquer,
pearls and embroidered silk.
Mascara, rouge,
eyes of Phoenician blue.

She covers up her body
covers up her face
covers up her mind
wipes out every trace.

Lets no one find her
Lets no one in
Enamours them with glamour
Plays the hiding game.

Answers them in riddles.
always makes them guess
never leaves a clue
and will not confess.

To her crimes of passion
To her primal fear.
Her weakness or obsession.
Beneath the strong veneer.

Nicely constructed.

Even the breakaway stanza with the internal rhyme only strains a little.
