Rewrite of the classic song, The Great Pretender

Oh yes I am the the greater pretender (ooh ooh)
Able to pretend better then you that without our love
To keep me warm
I am doing well
(ooh ooh)
My happy mask is such that even our closest friends don't suspect too much
I'm dying inside but I would rather live lonely like this then ever tell

Oh yes I am the greater pretender (ooh ooh)
Refusing to admit my heart you still own (ooh ooh)
I play a heartbreaking lover's game
Oh, ain't it a shame
What fools we both are
We could be together
If only we were't so
Bitterly willing to hold onto the past
Dreaming alone

Too real do we make-believe
Too real do our honest feelings we conceal

Ooh ooh yes I'm the greater pretender (ooh ooh)
Fake laughing and gayly shopping
Even through anyone could see
If they looked close enough
My tears are still falling
Just like those of a child's forgotten's toy clown
I would rather seem to be what I'm not (You see)
I'm hiding away from my true heart
As if it were a barking hound
And I were the frighted rabbit
Desperate to pretend better then you
I don't care if our paths ever again cross common ground

Yeah ooh hoo
Too real do we make-believe
Too real do our honest feelings we conceal

Ooh ooh yes I'm the greater pretender (ooh ooh)
Fake laughing and gayly shopping
Even through anyone could see
If they looked close enough
My tears are still falling
Just like those of a child's forgotten's toy clown
I would rather seem to be what I'm not (You see)
I'm hiding away from my true heart
As if it were a barking hound
And I were the frighted rabbit
Desperate to pretend better then you
I don't care
I don't care if our paths ever again cross
Cross common ground
