On top of a hill
There in lies a cave
Hidden from view
From the town below
A winding trail
Leads to this keep
Protected by Gods
Whom simple folk know

A wizard they say
Dwells within its depths
Surrounded by memories
Of power long lost
An old man now
He once counseled kings
Watching from the shadows
Haunted by dreams

The cave made of crystal
His home, his tomb
A gateway to the stars
Foretelling of fate
He walked the halls of men
Slept in the heavens
Revelations through fire
His eyes always seek

He summoned the drake
To burn in the sky
He betrayed a friend
To give birth to a king
His guard was the trees
Words became a shield
Used by the Gods
At the cost of his soul

The cave lies quiet now
Harp strings still
Gifts still lay
Among the tombs seal
Men whisper his name
Searching shadows grey
He watches them all
Through fire and haze
