The sky is a black blanket
that hangs over me,
covering me
with the sweet, gentle darkness
of the endless night.

The stars are tiny imps
who wink and wave at me,
giggling at me,
for I'm stuck here on earth,
while they laugh and play
up there in the heavens.

The moon is a silver lady,
dancing across the night sky,
each move, each step she takes
is serene and beautiful,
her dance is like a dream,
one that I would sleep
an eternal sleep to watch.
