Beneath the grand silent Merlion
Two children played catching and
when their tiny lungs cried out for a rest
plopped down right under the chin of the sea creature
And the Merlion protected them
his veil of water sheltering them from the world

The child who would someday fill into a curvaceous body
had an abusive father and merely photos of her mother
The future ambassador of Singapore for France
had his charming handsome grin that melted hearts
Both craving love, but found it wanting
sought solace in each other’s company

Months went by, and a deep friendship they had
Two chubby children slowing transforming
reaching the time when they would truly ripen
The cute girl found her pink nipples proudly revealing themselves
and her sweet Venus mound coyly shading herself with soft black curls
A deep voice now purred from the boy’s lips
and he felt many an admiring stare at his new found broad shoulders
The Merlion watched over them fondly, the only thing unchanged

Alas at their peak of budding into beautiful flowers
two youths who loved each other had to part
Under the comforting cascade of water
the deep voice brokenly whispered that he had to leave his country
and he would return only after four years to serve National Service
Maybe then a reunion

Glistening tears lining her face
she framed his face in her hands and pledged
that she will love only him in her life and with her entire soul
They agreed to meet one last time before he departed
And with this promise two heavy hearts beat close to each other
soft lips met hard ones, pale skin caressed bronze muscles
Body fluids mingled with warm salty tears
under the Merlion they slept, long ebony hair covering their nakedness

“Son we have to leave right now, there’s been a change of plans”
The boy never had a chance to tell her he couldn’t make it
Rushed to the airport, his parents briskly walking to the private jet
he frantically tried to call her, but she had already left the house
A pretty dress she chose, a gift for him so she thought
He could only hold his head in his hands and silently weep

She waited and waited, but he never came
his handphone was not on, he was not at home
Tears of anxiety and despair flowed
as the Merlion continued to spill forth his thundering water
Her tears soon turned to tears of anger and hate
One child’s heart had turned to stone

He finally returned home, eager to sought her out
Homes and numbers had ceased to exist
While he was serving his country, a single thought in his mind
to search for the girl he used to meet at the Merlion
Tonight he would seek her best girl friend
“Sorry, she’s left the country”, eyes filled with contempt
A broken heart made its way back home

A prostitute in Thailand’s famous strip she had become
Making money lying on her back as well as selling others’ cunts
A stone heart she carried, hating all men on earth
Unleashing her feminine power over the men she serviced
helped ease the pain, but who was she kidding?
Alone sometimes, a soul-wrenching wail shattered the silent night

The promising gentleman had a successful career
Fine dining, grand balls, diplomatic ties to forge
Flew around the world he did, including the prostitute’s new home
But their paths never did cross, each in their own bubble
Ladies threw themselves at him, but he remained chivalrous
Gently letting them down, his torn heart cried out for the One

He didn’t live long because he had overworked himself
A lonely bachelor, pitied by close friends
With his last breath he murmured “I’ll be there”
The funeral was grand and solemn
At age forty he had accomplished much
and many had to stand outside the church during his last service

Ten years passed, and the newspaper read
Singaporean shot in the head in Thailand
She had offended a gang leader
and was cruelly used before she was tormented
When she heard the trigger at her left temple
her soul welcomed it, weary of its damaged body

Her spirit was reluctant to leave the earth
She wanted to give it another chance
Hesitantly she approached the Merlion
the grand silent faithful Merlion
Given a new coat of paint, but still pouring life into the sea
Her spirit rested under its chin and closed her eyes

Warm lips pressed against her cold ones
Tears slid down from eyes that remained closed
Spirit recognized spirit
Soul cried out to soul
His strong arms enfolded her in a warm embrace that she had yearned for so long
with a loud sob she opened her arms and hugged him tight

What sweet love they made the whole night
No creature dared enter the hallowed ground
Forgiveness flowed freely, pure love could be felt in the air
Their ethereal bodies pulsed and pleasured each other
Body fluids mingling with warm salty tears
under the Merlion they slept, long ebony hair covering their nakedness

Morning came, oh it was too soon
But hand in hand to paradise they went
Where they found eternal love and peace
The cleaner arrived with his usual broom and dustpan
he scratched his head and wondered what had happened
For beneath the silent Merlion he found a white patch he knew could not be removed

innocence once lost...

can never be found.

Moving story, though a little weak on the motivation.

Keep writing babe, and the orange sky blossoms thus in streamers of words

what is the merlion

Hello, I wrote the poem and would like to comment.

The Merlion is a half lion, half fish like creature that is a national symbol for Singapore. Top lion, and lower torso resembles a mermaid's.

Don't know if you heard of Esplanade, the 12 million dollar arts centre in the city area. The merlion is near it, seperated by the Singapore River. Many tourists visit the place to take nice photos of the cityscape and the Merlion.

Yupz, just in case you wanted to know what on earth is a Merlion :P If you have the time, go visit my country! hehe.

And thanks "My Erotic Tail" for your opinion :)Appreciate it.
