I look in the mirror and, what do you think I see?
It's not the same girl that you see in me.

I recognize the tears behind those dark eyes,
And the men that put them there with their lies.

All my eyes catch sight of are flaws,
A body, face and soul full of scars.

My reflection is not a flawless pearl.
What I behold is a scared little girl.

A female that's 71 inches tall, stands here,
In the posture of a terrified young deer.

'Cause the past has shown me deceit and pain.
I know people will try their advantage, to gain.

Ready to swiftly run away as soon as you prove
To be a danger to me, so careful you should move.

I look in the mirror and hope now you truly see me
You can love the one whose reflection is shown to thee.

Thoughts...

I am not saying that MEN don't get hurt!

I am explaining who I am, to make them see what lies behind the pretty shell and to have them understand why I am the way I am!

And men don't experience scars and torment? Here she sounds like she's too quick to cut down herself; setting up a self-fulfilling prophecy by preparing for the worst by expecting the worst.
