The Mirror Descends

I looked into those eyes,
The mirrors of the soul.
Their azure depths,
A Sea of Infinities.

The Sea was Maelstrom swept,
Refuge could not be found.
The mirror slipped,
And descended.

Pin-wheeling in the gales,
Buffeted and thrown.
It fell through life,
It's passage cruel.

The calms of loneliness,
A bittersweet respite.
The rains of rage;
Evil well known.

Lightning of hate; blinding,
Illumination wanting.
Alone in the storm.
It's almost over.

The descent abruptly ends,
Death's reefs unyielding.
The silver pane collides.
The mirror is shattered.

I closed those eyes,
The mirrors of the soul.
The spark is gone.
The light forever dull.
