Man is such a temporal beast
Tied to ticking clock
Agonizing over every passing hour
Ever gazing at the advancing horizon
Without pausing to watch the colors
And shadows play
Or hear the music of the universe
As he travels through the
Mists of time
Destination unknown
Marking moments
With rueful regret
Lying flat out
Like a bug on a windshield
Rushing to destiny
Looking at the future with
Anticipated dread

And the past is a fleeting fancy
Brushed away
Like a buzzing bee
With surprise at the vicious sting
