(inspired by visions from the beach)

                                  Dawn comes. The seabreeze blows.
Grasses dance 'gainst the golden sky
On the dunes and sand and salt -- and sea.

Hunkered down 'midst my toasted guilt,
Locks tossed 'round my weary eyes
Like the tears and laughs and thoughts -- from me.

                                  Can't you see?
                                  They aren't we.

                                  Here is now.
                                  This is how
                                  It will be.

I wonder if my friends are happy
Whether truth and joy have followed
On this morn from the place -- I flee.

                                  Can't you see?
                                  They aren't we.

                                  Here is now.
                                  This is how
                                  It will be.
