Its just a little thing
Its not that big at all
The flutter of a wing
A barely whispered call

A tuneless song I sing
At times, when I feel small
An end to suffering
I watch the bottle fall

It wasn't hard to swallow but
I could not keep it down
Call me a fucking optimist 'cause
There's always next time, Next Time, NEXT TIME!

I cannot stand the pain
I've surely had my fill
Say that I'm insane
I'll take another pill

I'll open up a vein
I'll watch it flow and spill
But like an old refrain
I stand here breathing still

It wasn't hard to cut but
I could not drain the dregs
Call me a fucking optimist 'cause
There's always next time, Next Time, NEXT TIME!

I found a pretty gun
Don't say that I'm absurd
A shot? There wasn't one
A click was all I heard

It wasn't hard to fire but
The bullet was a dud
Call me a fucking optimist 'cause
There's always next time, Next Time, NEXT TIME!
