Her brain worked
On switches and fuses
The feelings too intense
Burnt out each fuseĀ
One by one
Recognising the danger
She flipped the master switch
To off
Vanished for a while
Thinking
In the gap she repaired the fuses
The time she'd taken
Allowed her to see things clearly
Gave her the strength
To switch back on
Though things may not
Be as she wants them
They're as they must be
And this she can live with
Each day dawns afresh
And happily
She greets it
Because she can't change the past
But the future is hers to decide
