The Passage from Virgin to Bride

The Passage from Virgin to Bride
        after Duchamp

beneath a pure
    lace   flesh
          slightly bends – hints

the delicate crux
      of thighs un -
        entwining
    in fragrant dark
tight tresses
       beyond fingertips

to reach a delicate
      angst

wet   yet taut
    unfolding sharp
        pain – resolution

into a flux of contour
        confusion   shifting
            position & weight
        as margin fades
to depth
      a gasp    a breath

hands on a perfect arch
    her back

flexed   trembling
    in the corners
        a tear swells

as he recedes
          from her midst
