For two cold-turkey days
now
it's been hell:
hot cold hot cold hot
sweats
twitching mind
screaming muscles

Well
just another hour now
and then I have it
(a huge bottle of pain-pills)
and more, more or less
lined up for a while

That's the trouble, though,
more or less,
and the pain is real:
plagued me for years
before I fell into this
and things got better and worse

Well, that's the poppy road
