the room where you bathe
is humbled by beauty
fern muted suns
and shadows of white

where droplets on breasts
once hot in sweet duty
are scorned by skin cooled
in air and soft light

were my lips the pale towel
you press to your heart
and my tears the shy droplets
that baptize your thighs
then your taste on my tongue
would flow holy with riddles
like the spice of creation
at the dawn of earth’s cry
