There are two of them, not at all symmetrical.
They lay vertical on his back, near his shoulder blades.
Once prominent, they are faded, a light purple.
He is happy go lucky, cheerful, and excited.
Except for when he is swimming no one knows about the scars.
They gawk at him, wondering what happened to him.
They dare not ask him.
Fear grips them.
If they asked they would have been told how when he was young and energetic
The sickness took over him and part of his life giving organs were removed.
The pain, the suffering, the hospital stay.
It was all worth it.
