I sit on my porch, watching the sky
Watching clouds roll in
Signalling an impending storm.
I watch them gather and collect
Cutting off the sun's light
Covering my world in dampened gloom.
I hear the thunder ramble across
In billowing, bellowing waves
and though I am somewhat afraid,
I still sit and watch the storm unfold.
The noise and light show get brighter
more terrifying
As oceans of rain cascade from Heaven,
but within time, the storm abates
The clouds go their separate ways
and the sun once again shines bright.

I am reminded how that is like Life.
Even in the best of times, clouds roll in,
Thunderous problems shout angry in my soul
Flashes of anger send me cowering,
Followed by floods of tears.
But I am learning not to run from the storms
for they will soon pass.
Sunlight will shine again, although it may take time.
My soul must be content to wait
To ride out the storm and
To find beauty its darkness.
Because without it,
I couldn't appreciate
the beauty of the sun.
