Imprisoned within our inhibitions;
Chained with obligations;
Confined by societal norms.
For so long we have been trapped,
But one thing was always certain:
I loved you.
Wanting so badly to hold you,
Knowing that I couldn’t.
Wishing so badly for a time for us,
Knowing it did not exist.
Needing so badly to have you by my side,
Knowing you were far away.

Now we have a chance to escape.
I’ve unlocked my shackles, and handed you the key
Because that was the only way.
I see you staring at yours,
Wondering what freedom holds.
One thing is certain:
I love you.

I’m holding out my hand in offering to you,
If you want it, take it.
We can walk hand-in-hand beside the sea
Of our hopes and dreams.
We can watch each other grow old and gray,
Still remembering when we were young.
We can build a life together
And one thing will always be certain:
I will always love you.

No excuses now.
