Like snakes
slithering towards
one another
across the hot
sand surface
of the desert.
Eyes half open,
lazily watching
that one last
drop of morning
wetness, moments
from being consumed
by our heat.
A flick of my
tongue and that
sweet drop
belongs to me,
bringing life to
my parched mouth.
