The crickets are singing their song tonight,
The moon's big and round, burning bright.
The cats are curled up, sleeping sound,
The clock's on the table tightly wound.
The children are sprawled every way in their sleep,
And now is the time that I treasure and keep.
I lay in my bed between sleeping and waking
Now is the time I have for dream making.
I dream of us meeting in impossible places
Searching the crowds for each others face's.
We find each other, embrace in delight,
And end up sleeping together the rest of the night.
But before we fall asleep my dear
We make passionate love and talk sincere.
We need to feel the other near
And parting is our only fear.
We love in meadows lush and green,
We love in front of TV screens.
I've even had us flying through space
Loving in a ship without disgrace.
My thoughts and dreams are filled with you
Loving each and everything you do.
But soon the sandman visits me
While I'm dreaming dreams of thee.
I hear the crickets chirp no more
For I'm asleep and softly snore.
