A rainbow meant treasures to be found at the end
A dandelion was plucked to blow in the wind
A mud puddle to be splashed
A rope to be skipped
Carrying my doll against my hip
Chasing butterflies would fill us with glee
Playing tag, red rover, just you and me
Catching fireflies on a warm summer's night
Ghost stories told that filled us with fright
Sledding and skating round we would go
Hot chocolate and marshmallows after the snow
Simpler times through childhood we went
Never thinking is this time well spent?
Sharing and caring without asking why
Just knowing our days were filled with you and I
Trusting without question you would be there tomorrow
Not knowing then life can be filled with sorrow
Oh to be young again and to have all the above
To share with my childhood friend
me
