If I saw me through your eyes,
would I despise myself?
Would I see evil personified, in the form of a man?

If I saw me through your eyes would
the world be hell
and I the ringmaster?
Would every wrong and hateful thing manifest itself in my face?
Would I see the essence of nightmares?
Would I see trouble and danger in my eyes?

As I looked me up and down
would I see
less then a man?
Would the sight of myself sicken me?

If I saw me through your eyes, would I see
a young man
incapable of love?
A young man
without the capacity for compassion.

Would I see a target for all of my
anger and frustrations?
Would I see a thief whose
come to steal my happiness
my dreams?

Is it possible
I could see a young man struggling
to be right?
A young man tested by life and
fighting to succeed?
Could I see all the love, hope and dreams
of a mother wrapped up in one package?

If I could see me through your eyes, just what would I see?
