I’ve talked to God about it,
I talked to my friends and to the moon,
and I’m getting nowhere fast
talking about you.
I’ve banned you from my thoughts,
and went on the run,
but your memories caught up with me
as though we’d just begun.
I thought time could be my friend
and age would be enough,
to dim my many memories
of you and your touch.
Yet here I am,
a different person through the years;
a new life, two new loves,
the thought of you still brings me to tears.
