By now, the die is cast.
The chips have fallen.
You can pretend I'm not your love,
But you're just stalling.
Don’t classify me as a sweet distraction,
You’ll pacify me? Not this man of action.
I'm the one you must have for time alone.

By now, you tell yourself
Routine can save you.
With your wheels tight in the ruts,
I can't enslave you.
Forget these gestures of loving kindness,
I'll force divesture of your homesick blindness.
Look right at me and say I'm not your time alone.

Time alone won’t dull the knives
Inside his sad embraces,
Time alone puts bit and bridle
To a mustang in her traces.
Time alone leaves little doubt
How much the past can teach you.
Time alone is how you know
Which one of us completes you.

By now, you’ve heard the things
I need to tell you.
This is not a bill of goods
I need to sell you.
I stand before you with the best intentions,
You know my love is not some cheap invention,
Wake up and say that you’ll spend some time alone.
(Repeat Chorus)
