To Them

To the boy that was there before me:

To the boy that was there before I came into her life I want to say thank you. Thank you for screwing up so bad that she chose to be by herself rather then to be with you. I was going to address this to the man that was there before me but I realized that you could not possibly have been a man. A man takes a heart when it is given to him and holds it firmly but with a gentle grace. A man does not simply come in like a bull elephant on a full rampaging charge to try to take what ever he wants. Yes, I know I am going to have to do some clean up work now that she's starting to let me in, but I just look at the classic cars, the historic houses and even the antiques on public television and I see that while there is a lot of work to be done, in the end when it's done right the reward is so very much worth the work. So, again I want to say thank you. Thank you for placing her into my life at a point where I can show her what a man is really able to do. I wish for you that you find peace, for peace is the first step to becoming a real man.

To the woman that was there before her:

To the woman that was in my life before she arrived I want to say thank you. Thank you for showing me the things about myself that I had forgotten. I appreciate the fact that you let things get to the point where it was easier to just go through the motions then to actually fix things. Thank you for tossing me out with you decided you were done with me. I see now I need to fight when I want something and fight until I have no more breath left. Going through the motions is just one step removed from death and I don't plan on dying again. My eyes are now open to what I really am and how I can't hide it any more. Some may call me a monster or a nutcase but the blunt truth is I am now content, something I was never able to say when I was with you. I am not bitter about what happened, and this is not meant sarcastically. I wish for you the happiness you seek, because I've found mine.

To her:
To her, the one in my life now I want to say thank you. Thank you for opening your heart one more time and letting me at least look in. I know it's hard after being burnt by the bad souls out there. I can only promise you two things. First I will give you everything I have. Second, should you decide that you need to close that door to me forever I will walk away quietly. I will hurt but I will do so on my own. Until that day, however, you will always be able to come into my heart and seek refuge from the storms. I wish for you all the good things that should come to one as wonderful as you.
