Tock, tick, and tick, tock,
Life moves through its progression
Birth, its immaculate conception of thought and action,
A time to be held and comforted
Every need, always met,
First words spoken first words known,

Youth, a sweet chaos of rules and risks taken,
So many scraped knees and loss of tooth,
Lesson great and small learned
Yet innocence holds the ground,
But corruption waits just beyond the ridge of time

Adolescence, new growth and feelings stir with change,
Games of tag and card,
Now games of touch and heart
No longer cardboard cut outs,
Forms now shape and gain attention,
Some move fast while others move
Ever slow,
Lessons almost learned

Adults, hurry, hurry to and fro for the goal
Now the classes all but done
Real world pressure knocks on the door to make undone
Home is hot,
 The wife becomes so-so,
Mundane jobs to move you through the progression,
Material things to pile high,
Ever search for that perfect crystal sty
And now the end is near all the lessons wane and fade,
The children now reach the peak,
 As you grow weak
Life slips from you on wings so grand
I’m sure yours is mentioned and told but,
 Only on a granite stone.

Sweet~

Neva~~ I loved it..Time waits for no man. Loved the imagery. Told the tale of time, moving, waiting for no one. Just loved this one. Think your writing just gets better and better. The flow was great too. Was smooth and kept with a stern hand..Well done~..More I ask~~!!!

Tick, tick, tick...

A well-crafted tale set to a clock's tempo. I wonder if you could do more with the meter of the poem, and really let the rhythm drive the story?
