he walked towards me
dark blue Nikes
slight shuffle
eyes guarded
arms outstretched
cupping his garden ripe tomato
an offering to his goddess

as this early season tomato gingerly passed possession
skin brushed skin
alighting a thousand tiny torches in our souls

for the instant we feel alive
complete
whole

but in our hopeless, star-crossed dramedy
flames must remain controlled
hidden

and so
each of us inhaled slowly, deliberately
savoring the air
consuming the essence of the other
as we continued on
our fated paths

She's back

and flying high. I'm going to let someone else recommend this. Love the first tomato of the year.
