it could have been our yacht there
the dragon boat with gold letters
and a bow that made smile shapes
in the green mouth of our sea

we were alone except for the captain
and his mate and they were alone too
in each other's eyes
she touched his gray beard with her smile

he touched her tan that was hidden there
under the sun with noon lights on
they smiled hello and good-bye then
when we departed with no bags

and a month to spend under the trees
and nothing else to cover our sin
except maybe night sometimes
if we slept through into the day by accident

or too much love the nights and days before
