Tree of life
rising so majestically
your limbs stretch out
to reach the sky.
Your branches
stretch in all directions
barren now
without the green leaves of spring.
Yet still you stand
stalwart
against the cold
that is to come.
You embrace
the child
you hold her high
as she swings from that barrenness.
You will
remain
long after
even when she is gone to dust.
