Smart cookie,
got her life
all planned out.
She has something
to smile about
every day,
happy and in love
she can take on
the world.

She walks in bliss,
never guessing
that her whole life
is about to fall down
around her
broken heart.

She has been tricked,
poor baby,
into believing
against her better
judgement
that love would
conquer all.

She was held up
on the wings of joy
and then dropped
to dash against
the rocks below.

Her life is a lie
and she can
no longer bear
to search for truth,
she is done in
by the one she loves.

Empty, hollow,
a shell of herself,
she walks with
head down and
feet shuffling,
in no hurry to
look up and see
the rest of her
lonely life
stretched out
before her.

My favourite

of the two poems you have up today. Solid, with a good rhythm. Mentioned in today's new poem reviews.
