Troubled Nights
By: smhgirl2002

Lying restless on my back,
Running through the event play by play from a year ago,
Whipping my head side to side, desperate not to think about that,
My heart continually aches; no longer whole.

Sheets now damp with perspiration rest at my feet,
Blank eyes staring up at nothing,
My mood increasingly turns bleak,
Mind stuck on those ten minutes, insisting I think of something.

Blinking away the beginning of tears,
I toss and turn unable to rid the final image from my mind,
I’d give anything to have you here,
I must learn to accept it simply was your time.

Rising from the tangled sheets,
I stumble to the open window; staring out into the dark sky,
Sobbing hysterically accepting defeat,
Every night, present is the need to say goodbye.

A Bit Of A Cliche....

But time is a great healer...

I read it a few times, and each time felt it more...
