"Turning Tear"

You turn the door key for what will be the last time;
sensing something else now lays on his mind
He called you to meet him, but couldn’t explain
as he searched for words he tried too hard to find

The hand that caressed you for months in this room
now on its one finger betrays a gold ring
that wasn’t there before this heart stunned night
Never mentioned, not one single thing

He begins slowly and gently to tell you he’s wed
with a pre- teen and a four year old son
And he wants you as more than a lover, much more
but of his family... he’ll never be done

Fate is a cruel mirror in some scenes of our lives;
its reflection showing guilt crystal clear
When you see yourself now as the other... and worse,
it stares back with an all knowing sneer

It’s funny how things like this happen in life
and how Fate can yet be a good friend
When you’re there with the man that owns all of your love
but with truth’s reflection, you know it must end

In your final held parting, one saddened lone tear
he thinks he sees fall from your eye
You turn quickly and walk out the door and from him...

before the other’s tears won’t let you dare try

Been there!

So many do lie for a quick piece and outside "relationship". Most times, when it starts to turn serious, I've gotten skilled at conducting a background check; it usually ends in goodbye. Patricia

Thanks for the suggestion

A touching look at "the other woman," discovering her true position in his life. Talk about looking for love in all the wrong places! You fit it well with that line from your dream.

One Small Scene

Great economy of words resulting in greater impact on one very brief moment in a woman's life. And if never having heard of such a thing before, reading it here makes plain the pain is forever.
