I used to be a unicorn
Out on the African plain
Waiting for salvation
Waiting for the rain,

And now just a traveler
Stuck out on the road
Looking for the answer
Sorting out the code,

Rucksack full of note cards
Brain hallucinations
Reading your postcard
Cryptic temptations,

What do we have in common
Nothing but the breeze
Polite conversation
Thank you and please,

We sometimes share a moment
Sometimes share a night
Sometimes we make love
By flickering moon light,

Then some force-field grabs us
We’re pushed and pulled away
Write baffling notes
Of what we did that day,

How we shared a moment
Witnessed what could be
What I saw in you
What you saw in me,

Nothing lasts forever
Nothing lasts that long
And we’re back on the highway
Where we both belong,
