We’re the aliens,
Foreigners in our own homes;
To all our friends and family,
We’ve become unknown.

But, we’re all the same people,
Essentially in our hearts,
We’re just less superficial
Than we were before.

We see it in each other,
But not in ourselves,
A curse has blinded us,
We can’t look in the mirror.

No matter,
Whether we see it or not,
We look the same,
But never will be.

That’s what happens when,
You go away from:
Friends and Family;
Living at University.

It's been so long since I was in college that I don't remember if I felt that way. But thanks for sharing how you feel. Your poem made it clear.
