You think you're tethered to the bed
Bound by your own free will,
But she will plan six moves ahead
and you will be there still,

As she will lull your fears to sleep
And have you in a swoon -
the hours will creep and you're asleep
and there will be no moon,

For she will choke it in her cloak.
She'll put the stars to flight
And keep night dark, without a spark
   Until the morning light.

Then, while she keeps the day at rest
   With all her magic art
She'll sink her talons in your breast
   and feed upon your heart.

You'll wake and sigh and wonder why
   You feel this gnawing pain...
When from the sky the day's rays fly
   She'll eat your heart again.

Oh my!

A Promethean feast, eh? With the heart of the poor unloved as the ironic main course! Painful!
