I am pathetic in missing you
and useless.
I am the pith of an orange
torn off with your impatient fingers
to get to the sweetness that
lies beneath.
I am the dry leaf
curled on the walk
swirling round and round myself
in the breeze
till you step on me
and crush me to the bricks.
I am the hair you lose
in the shower, unaware
how I fail to cling to you
and slip from your shoulders,
drowning in the drain.

I don't think I'd call this belittling -

It's rather feels like a sense of hoplelessness to me.. Well done, and chilling.
