You lie alone on the bed
a sheet wrapped round your waist.
The cool night air sending it fluttering
like waves rolling across the ocean.
The stars showering down upon you;
the suns of distant planets never known.
Making feeble attempts to warm
your heavenly body with their distant light.
To pay homage to the goddess before them.
The pale moonlight bathing your body
with an ethereal glow,
touching you like a gentle lover's carress.
Oh to be that light,
to touch heaven.
To discover treasures beyond imagination
in the heart of an angel
wrapped tightly in her gossamer wings.
I look down to my Venus.
Her full ruby red lips,
eyes closed lightly, hiding
the gateways to her soul.
I realize with saddness
that it could never be.
She would never have Me.
I bow gracefully before her
and bless my lips with the touch of her skin.
A slight smile crosses her face.
And a single tear rolls
down my cheek and onto hers
the smile disappears,
as do I,
as I slip away into the night.
