Hollow Victories
Written by Eire
9-24-05

Victory at best
is a fleeting thing,
what you think you’ve won
have you really?.

When you win by lying and cheating others
what have you won??

When you win by twisting words
and telling just enough truth in your lies,
what have you won??

If a person is so easily swayed
by one who lies and twists the truth,
do you really think another won’t do the same to you?

When you lie to one who thought you a friend,
and only tried to help,
what did you gain?

A hollow victory is fleeting at best.

You never know
is he is true to you when he’s not there?

You never know
what he’s doing
or saying
when you are not around.

A hollow victory at best.

You hurt people
leave heartache
pain
and devastation in your quake

only to turn it around
that you are the victim
and they should have known better.

Love and trust are so very fragile
once broken
can never be completely fixed again

Are you certain he loves you?
Can you feel his love
when he’s not there beside you?
can you feel his love for you
when he is there?

Can you?

Loneliness is a sad thing
but it’s even sadder
to be so lonely
when you are with someone

Are you certain he’s not lonely
when he’s with you?
Are you certain you have all of him?

Are you certain?

A hollow victory is fleeting at best.

Can you love someone
so easily swayed by lies and deceit?
Can you love someone
that you ‘won’ by deceit and lies?

Do you know what love is?

Not the lust of it all
but the deep devotion and caring that comes with it.

Do you hurt when he hurts?
Do you cry when he does?
Do you know his hidden most secrets and hurts?
Can you tell by his voice
something is wrong before he says anything?

They say that men will be men
and must have more then one woman to satisfy them

but what of women that declare love to one
while at the same time declaring it to another??

A hollow victory is fleeting at best.

Intersting

subject matter.

Obviously this was written to get something off your mind rather than as a serious poem. Hope it helped. Sorry I read it.

Victory

a hollow victory is not really a victory, but only a stop gap of one searching for something they can't find. Who knows, perhaps he will call,if nothing else, just to talk

I love the flow of words, it's heartfelt and sad.

See?

I told you it would help.

And you're right ...

Victory IS fleeting.

Just remember that

when old haunts try to resurrect themselves

in the ugly form of a bitch ...

And I quote,

"Hollow victories are fleeting at best"
