Black, searing pain
runs through my entire body.
It feels like my heart
is being torn from my chest.
I smile sadly
as I look into your eyes for the final time.
Will I ever
see you again?
Will the pain
ever cease?
My body trembles beneath your touch,
for I fear it will be the last one.
You take me in your arms
and whisper loving words to me.
It hurts so much;
I fear it will never stop.
I hold you tight
as you slowly begin to pull away.
You tell me not to worry,
that you'll be back.
I let you go,
still not sure what you say is true.
I watch as you walk away,
taking my heart with you.

Time is moving way too slow,
and I'm still here, waiting.
