Stand alone or by my side
It is your choice to run and hide
But just know I will stay
And wait for you on this rainy day

I told you from the start
My arms are wide, my heart is not
Don’t screw with me
I’m not yours to do with what you please
But yet I stay and wait

I’m rethinking all of this right now
What do I do if you do not return?
Where do I go if you are back soon?
I’m lost in a vast field of flowers, who sway in the light breeze
But I wait for you on a rainy street

I feel my heart start to slip, no longer do I feel your grip
You are too far, too lost to me
I can no longer put my trust in thee
My feet begin to slide away, back to where I was one day

To my old life I must go but there you are waiting for me too
In the cold, dripping rain

I laugh as you tell me you were about to leave
That you had been waiting too
I cry as I realize you didn’t leave me
Just a silly misunderstanding
I run to you, faster than I’ve ever run before

I forgive myself and I forgive you
We all make silly mistakes
I stood on the corner you always go to
And you stood on my doorstep; the doorway to my home, my heart

And still it could not matter less, now that I’m with you

For I would stand in rain again even if I knew the pain, just as long I could see you.
