a restlessness beats within her
the beat from the tom tom steady.
like a caged panther she paces
back and forth.

The sharp eyes watch,studying
her temporary surroundings,
for she knows that she will
indeed escape her confines.

watching the people come and go,
she smiles deep inside, biding her time.
suddenly she sees one that catches her eye;
she watches carefully, weighing his worth.

he slowly approaches, curious about her
and reaches out to touch her lustrous coat.
when others have tried to put their hands
into her domain, she'd snarl and bare her sharp teeth,
daring them to try her again and suffer worse consequences.

this one is different; aye, she realizes .
power and strength emanate from him,
so she sits there patiently - purring even ;
his hands stroking her with knowledge
and a surety found in so few of those
that want her.

prepared to bite him, watching and waiting
for any signs that danger is afoot,
she feels a change within her being .
slowly she starts to listen for his footsteps ,
well honed hearing sorting through the sounds
of her world

where was there was caution, she growls low
in her throat as she picks up on his scent,
a greeting of pleasure ready for him as he
approaches her, assurance in every move.

he holds his hand out to her ;
she struts to him, pride in her gait .
he holds his hand still, watching her
with his ever steady gaze ;
a low rumble of content make him smile
as she rubs against him now of her
own free will .

she is his now ; he has caught her ,
his smug smile tells her he knows it too .
not caring, she purrs contentedly,
as he slips something around her neck .
"you are mine" , he says.
she licks his hand, agreeing, happy now.

fear, caution, anger, no longer keep her caged,
for he has tamed the wildness in her.
there is no danger now, with him.
she is his, he is hers.

she is caged no more.
