We could be great roommates, you know,
just living our lives and sticking together
not for the time being but for however long
is necessary, because you see, good roommates
never leave each other in the lurch. No messy
divorce, no legal procedures or binding contracts
other than rent maybe, which is cool. I mean,
I think I could handle that. How about you?
Who knows, maybe it could happen.

We might actually start seeing each other again,
and gain a new, healthy respect for one another,
leading to, don’t laugh, maybe even honesty.
Well, I suppose the sky’s the limit now, isn’t it.
And when we pass each other in the hall,
instead of a frozen wall of silent ice
maybe there could just be so much space.
Now isn’t that a refreshing moment.
Just think. We both might smile again.
