We've two new kittens at our house,
Eight months, calico and cute.
The dog'd sure like to give them the boot.
Though to scale, she's a dinosaur,
They arch their backs and hiss
And up the stairs she scoots
To hide unhappy under my bed.
No doubt now her home's turned hellish cat haven
She'll use the internet to seek adoption.

I wonder if I came upon a passing Tyrannosaur,
If I'd have the nerve to arch my back and hiss.
Or perhaps I'll try it the next occasion
My daughter's boyfriend comes about,
He's her first, the awkward teenage lout.
Instead, like always, I'll join my dog under the bed,
Unhappy that change has reared its ugly head.

very nice twists in this, and irony.

Such wisdom hidden in this little piece; for some, change is such a terror. But still, watch out for those fiendish uncoordinated lanky boys — they want only one thing from your sweet, virginal teenage daughters.
