What do you do when your dear friend dies -
And you hadn't the chance to tell her good-bye?
Questions bombard you, and deep in your soul
That question that haunts you - Why didn't I know?
First the hurt, then the guilt, and worse, the anger -
You feel "left behind", surrounded by danger.
An overwhelming flood of pain that shoots right through your heart -
Every thought, every memory, each unanswered question, a pain filled dart.
You cry, you rage, you ask with no answers -
And yet, you hear a voice. Is it HIS? Is it hers?
HE answers, This is MY will, I brought her home
Here all her suffering and pain are gone.

What do you do when your dear friend dies?
You thank GOD for blessing you both with shared time.
You ask GOD to tell her you love her, you care.
That you'll carry her memory, which often you'll share
With friends and with family both far and near
Telling all of a friend who's life is still dear.

What do you do when your dear friend dies?
Have a good cry - Thank GOD you're alive!

Tell your friends and family, today, you love them,
For come tomorrow, you may have left them!

*Written May 31, 2005 for one of my dearest friends, who was taken from this world, much too soon, on May 30, 2005, and left behind a wonderful husband, and 3 great kids!
