Layla plays in the background
Whilst on an expanse of slate grey linen
She lies exposed and smiling broadly
Wholly brown, so smooth
And smelling of honey and coconuts;
I can still taste her in my mouth
As she tells me that she loves me
As I sit on the edge of the bed
With my hand on her leg
And looking away
Away into our future—
I can't return the gesture.
