Click hereTrapped as I am in the passionate moments and maddening desires
To kill a mockingbird winging swiftly through the midnight sky,
Has brought to me a sudden, fierce absolution of life and death.
And just as sudden, an absolute need to cry.
To pause for tears...
Tears for grief...
Tears for sorrow.
To pause for a moment, wond'ring why -
A time-out, a second, please!
A time to determine if whether,
For a time, this is right,
Or at least...
Okay.
What would He say,
Indeed, what will He say,
At that time,
On that day,
When the last recess bell clangs away
As it tolls for you and me
In its back and forth decisive sway?
What will He finally have to say
When the blood drips off the moon
And the stone has rolled away?
Will there be anything more then,
Left to say?
Or perhaps we'll just be gone.
In the flash of that moment,
Gone away...
As the mockingbird, with blood-tinged wings,
Takes the day
And flies...
Flies away.
