The darkness enfolds me filling me with dread
I force myself to sleep all alone
Tossing and turning I look at the clock.
Only 10 minutes of torture have gone by

My heart is heavy and my soul aches
I struggle to enter the gates of slumber
Hoping no dreams of goals not reached
Will visit me again this night

With body exhausted to the breaking point
I fall into oblivion's power at last
The dreams approach again as I run
I hide from them under my covers

These powerful dreams surround me again.
I sweat with the fear they arouse
They finally enclose me with a loud noise.
I blot it from my ears but fail

These terrible dreams have won again
My soul cries out for mercy
For the terrible dreams that I have
Is my life when I awake.
